The founder
After ten years of living in Paris, I was thinking about how to transmit my culture to my children and give meaning to my daily life. I needed to reconnect with my roots and mix the colors of my Mexican culture into my life.
In 2017, in the middle of this retrospection, an earthquake strongly hit my region Juchitan, Oaxaca.
I remember my childhood surrounded by exotic flowers, hand-embroidered “Tehuana” costumes, filigree jewelry, traditions, and strong women.
This event touched me enormously because almost everything I had known has been destroyed. I wondered how I could contribute and have a positive impact?
My region is very rich in traditions, craftsmanship, and ancestral know-how. I believed that promoting abroad artisan work through a collaboration would be a good form of help for them.
At that moment, I was working in luxury and this idea resonated strongly in my thought. Then fairee was born as a project which seeks to preserve ancestral know-how and to support artisans by producing our creations using traditional techniques adapted to the contemporary lifestyle.
“In some way, French culture has become a part of me as well. I fell in love with the effortless style. I admire the strength in French women. It reminds me my Zapotec culture."
